Prior to entering into private practice, Ms Perkins served her community as an Assistant District Attorney for Tulsa County. This position provided an excellent venue for the rapid expansion of her legal skills in widely diversified case loads. While conducting preliminary hearings, bond hearings, pre-trial hearings, and motions to suppress and quash, Ms Perkins was also engaged in the prosecution of Deprived and Delinquent cases. With over fifteen (15) jury trials to her credit, Ms Perkins provided oral argument before the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals and served as a special prosecutor for Guns and Drugs.
Ms Perkins served her Legal Internship with Bridger-Riley & Associates of Tulsa, Oklahoma. This rigorous training encompassed the essential day-to-day hands-on experience necessary for the support of a successful law office. Daily duties included client intake & interviews, research & writing, draft and respond to discovery, assisting with preparing and conducting depositions and submission & coordination of filings with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Other foundational legal training and experience was gained while Ms Perkins served as a Victim Services Coordinator for the Center for Crisis Advocacy in Odessa, Texas. Here she trained and supervised volunteers while providing and managing a 24-hour crisis intervention service for victims of crime. With Ms Perkins help, the agency was expanded beyond a basic rape trauma center to a comprehensive support center for victims of violent crimes. As a community liaison, Ms Perkins’ grant writing capabilities were instrumental in fund raising efforts. Her pursuit of law enforcement training resulting in her becoming a valuable TCLEOSE certified law enforcement instructor. Ms Perkins jury trial testimony as an expert witness on Rape Trauma Syndrome & Sex Offender Characteristics was upheld by the Texas Criminal Appeals Court.
Academically, Ms Perkins received a Bachelors in Political Science from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. Her Juris Doctor degree, with accompanying Cali Awards in both Contracts and Trial Practice, was awarded by University Tulsa College Law in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
